What is a session ?
A session in an informal gathering of musicians to enjoy playing together. For folk or traditional musicians they are brilliant - an ideal way to swap or learn new tunes, have a drink and a chat and get in a lot of playing - hurrah!
Playing is normally done by ear, and anyone can join in with any tune. There is no set list of tunes but there are likely to be some common tunes that everyone joins in with.
If you don't know a tune then you can try and learn it or play something against it that works (like adding chords beneath). The only rule is don't drown out the tune!
